Celebrated at St. Patrick's Church - Momence, IL

Fr. Pete Jankowski has been celebrating all Masses on behalf of the parishioners of St. Patrick's Church (Momence) and St. Anne's Church (St. Anne) who are not able to church. Feel free to invite others to join our Masses if they are not able to join their own parish communities – we will never get large enough to worry about too many people that come and join us (and what a wonderful dilemma it would be if they did!).

Please continue to support our local parishes – we need your support to continue spreading God’s mercy during these difficult times.

To support the mission of St. Patrick's Church, please contact us at (815) 472-2864 or write us at 119 North Market Street - Momence, IL 60954.

To support the mission of St. Anne's Church, please contact us at (815) 427-8265 or write us at PO Box 470 - St. Anne, IL 60964.

Border Town Mass & Appreciation Dinner - February 11, 2023

The St. Anne and St. Patrick Community honor those who have served our parishes at our Annual Mass & Appreciation Dinner on February 11. Food was provided for over two hundred fifty souls - pans of JR Chicken and side dishes as well as pasta, pizza and three types of Mexican dishes, rice and potatoes as well. Outside of a pan of beans... all the food was gone by the end of the night!!! Thanks to everyone who made this event such an important one for our parish communities.

Here is a GIF from the St. Anne Golf Outing from June 12, 2021. Below is the golf prayer I offered to start off the festivities, courtesy of the Passionist Community (as an aside, whomever hired the caterer with the cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped jalepenos SHOULD GET A RAISE!!!)...

Lord of the Fairways,

You’ve blessed us with the beauty of nature, the abilities of mind and body, plus the insights of modern technology. These blessings join together today in our 2021 Golf Outing, in memory of Fr. James Fanale.

Be with us, that we may enjoy

each moment of today’s outing:

May

our vision be keen as an eagle’s,

our drives straight as aces,

our irons sure as the birdies’ flight,

our putts true and on the mark,

and the fellowship above par!

May we call upon your Holy Name only

in praise, and leave cursing the Devil

to those more qualified…

And, if it be your Will, a good score

would make today heavenly! Amen!

St. Anne's Catholic Church was founded by Father Charles Chiniquy, who travelled to Illinois in 1852 and helped found the parish for which the city was named. He was accompanied by most of his French-Canadian parishioners from nearby Bourbonnais, IL. The current structure was built in 1872 to replace Father Chiniquy's original log church. The stone structure is of Gothic design and topped with a bell tower. The church survived a fire in 1893.

The church contains a national shrine to St. Anne, established in 1888 to provide parishioners with a counterpart of the shrine at Beaupré, Canada. The shrine is now known throughout the Middle West and several miraculous cures have been reported. St. Anne's Day, July 26th, brings hundreds of visitors to venerate the relic of la bonne Sainte Anne.
